Dr. Myron Glick, MD, is a Board Certified Family Physician, graduate of the University of Buffalo School of Medicine, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Jericho Road Community Health Center.

He and his wife, Joyce, founded Jericho Road Family Practice (JRFP) in 1997 at 184 Barton St., Buffalo, NY, with a mission to provide excellent medical care to all who come, regardless of insurance or ability to pay.

In 2002, they founded Jericho Road Ministries to address the non-medical needs of the diverse population of patients that were seeking medical care at Jericho Road. The Family Practice and Ministries were merged in 2013 to become a Federally Qualified Health Center and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, now known as Jericho Road Community Health Center.

Growing up as a child of missionary parents in Belize, Dr. Glick has always been passionate about justice and equity issues, especially healthcare justice, in under-resourced countries.

He has led efforts to bring excellent healthcare to the most vulnerable and marginalized people in Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nepal. In 2015, Jericho Road opened its first health center outside the United States—the Adama Martha Memorial Community Health Center in Kono District, Sierra Leone. Since, Jericho Road has opened two additional health centers in Sierra Leone; one health center in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo; and created a mobile medical outreach program by motorbike to the villages of Hagam and Hapra in Nepal. In May, 2022 on a new health center in Hagam, Nepal, was opened.

Dr. Glick has also taught at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences as an assistant clinical instructor. As he advocates for additional medical professionals to serve in safety net clinics like Jericho Road, he has expanded educational opportunities for students in the medical field at JRCHC. Under his direction, Jericho Road has provided shadowing and rotation experience for hundreds of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and pharmacy students. In 2019, JRCHC became a track for UB’s family medicine residency program. Currently, 12 family doctors provide inpatient and outpatient care to Jericho Road patients during their three-year residencies.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when lack of access for testing was a huge concern, especially in certain neighborhoods in Buffalo, Jericho Road started offering COVID-19 testing at large-scale, walk-up, no appointment needed, no prescription needed, outdoor community testing events at various locations around the city, focusing especially on the hardest-hit zip codes.

From April through September 2020, Jericho Road held 31 outdoor community testing events, testing up to 340 people per event. Dr. Glick personally tested hundreds of community members and has continued to suit up for Jericho Road’s on-site COVID testing units. Since the start of the pandemic, Jericho Road has provided more than 39,000 COVID tests.

In addition to testing, Dr. Glick pushed hard for COVID vaccine access. In December 2020, Jericho Road became a Point of Dispensing and immediately began offering the vaccine to eligible community members. Since, JRCHC has provided more than 31,000 vaccine shots to the community.

Dr. Glick has also been publicly recognized for his work. In 2021, he and Joyce were awarded the NYS Senate Liberty Medal by Senator Sean Ryan. He was honored with Mayor Byron Brown’s Community Healthcare Impact Award, the American Society for Public Administration, Buffalo Niagara Chapter’s Excellence in Nonprofit Administration Award. He was WGRZ’s inaugural highlight on their series “The Selfless Among Us” and highlighted on Buffalo Business First’s Boasting Buffalo series.

In 2013, he was named an Alumni of the Year by Houghton College and he and Joyce were named Outstanding Citizens of the Year by The Buffalo News.

Dr. Glick and Joyce have four children and live on the West Side of Buffalo.

The name for the practice stems from the parable of the Good Samaritan in the gospel (Luke 10:30-3) in which a man is robbed, beaten and left to die in the road – Jericho Road. After a priest and a Levite by pass him, a Samaritan of a rival sect compassionately helps him.

The story is at the heart of Jericho Road Community Health Center where every person is a neighbor, made in God’s image and deserving of respect and dignity.
